The Ambar is a super sustainable, off-grid retreat nestled in rural Croatia, thoughtfully designed for a couple with deep ties to the area. Originally an old grain store — known as an "ambar" in Croatian — the structure has been transformed into a unique working space, now encased within a larger, modern framework.

Set on a pedestal, the old timber structure retains its character, while a suspended loft hovers above, creating a striking "house within a house" effect. Terraces open to the south and west, allowing sunlight to pour in throughout the day and offering sweeping views of the surrounding natural landscape from its hilltop position.

This crafted retreat is the result of a close collaboration with the clients, ensuring that their values and connection to the land are beautifully woven into the architecture.
